| What
does INKBUCKS do with the cartridges it buys? |
INKBUCKS
has teamed up with a company that offers a cartridge refilling
service. Their refilling customers mail in empty cartridges to
be refilled. (Click the link at the top of the screen for more
information.) When the customer's empty cartridge cannot be
refilled for some reason, we help fill the order by substituting
a good empty cartridge we buy from a school or youth group.
| Does
INKBUCKS sell ink refilling kits and other ink jet supplies? |
No.
That's not our deal. Our mission is to help the environment and
help youth groups. We're really good at that, so that's what we
do. But enough of our member schools and youth groups have
wanted to buy from us that we've linked up with a sister
company, toner-low.com,
that does some of those things. Call or email for more
information. |
| What
are the various types of printer cartridges and how do you tell
them apart? |
There
are three main types of computer printer cartridges in use
today.
Ink jet cartridges are usually a little smaller than a can of
tuna or the size of your fist. Ink jet printers are the most
popular printers for home and small office use. Ink jet printers
are often built into inexpensive fax machines. The ink inside an
ink jet cartridge looks a lot like ordinary food coloring.
Laser printer cartridges are about the size of a shoe box. They
are usually made of black plastic. There are black or colored
laser cartridges. Many small copy machines and fax machines use
laser cartridges. Laser cartridges don't contain ink. They
contain laser toner, which looks a lot like black powdered
sugar.
Some fax machines and old printers use printer ribbons. These
cartridges don't contain ink or toner. Inside they have
typewriter ribbons or long rolls of carbon paper. INKBUCKS does
not buy printer ribbons.
In addition to cartridges, some printers have disposable parts
that look a little bit like cartridges. For example, some
machines have plastic bottles to collect waste toner. INKBUCKS
does not buy these disposable parts. |
| Which
ink jet cartridges does INKBUCKS buy? |
We
buy ink jet cartridges that can be refilled. A good rule of
thumb is to look at the outside of the cartridge. If it has some
sort of exposed electronic circuits and isn't broken, it
probably can be refilled. If the cartridge does not have exposed
electronic circuits, then probably not. For example, most HP
cartridges can be refilled, but Epson cartridges cannot. Use the
list on our website as a guide. Don't worry about this too much.
Just get started. You will soon become an expert! |
| Does
INKBUCKS buy empty laser cartridges? |
Yes.
We have many schools that do it very successfully. We'll pay you
for each refillable laser cartridge. Give us a call at
480.968.8440 x15 and we'll explain how to get that going.
Recycling laser cartridges really helps the earth. |
| What
does our school pay to get started? |
Nothing.
We'll always pay all of the shipping and mailing costs. |
| Did
you just say INKBUCKS pays all the shipping costs? |
Yep. |
| How
many cartridges do I have to save before INKBUCKS will buy them? |
It
depends on the size box you use. Whatever the box, please fill
it completely. It would be good to have at least 30 inkjets or 5
laser toner cartridges before you request a UPS pick-up. |
| So
what's the catch? |
There
isn't one. So sign up and let's get going. :) |
| Is
the INKBUCKS's program limited to schools and school groups? |
No.
Just about any group can participate. INKBUCKS member groups
range from cub scouts to marching bands. In fact, we have
preprinted custom publicity materials for all sorts of
organizations. Let us know about your group and we'll make it
work. So far, our program is limited to the United States. |
| How
does INKBUCKS pay us for the cartridges we send? |
When
we receive your box of cartridges, we will count your recyclable
cartridges and send you a check. You should receive your
check and the new box within 30 days, usually quicker. In the
meantime, keep collecting cartridges. If you ever have a
question, give us a call. |

protect cartridges. Pack newspaper or other plastic bags around
cartridges so they don't move in shipping.
- Use any box you have that fits all your cartridges. Please
fill the box completely. |
